Nightmare

Narrator (Begoña Lombardero): Teresa had been planning the party for months. Even for years. She had just turned 17th and, finally, her parents had decided to trust her so she was spending the weekend all by herself. Well, by herself and about 15 of her closest friends…

(Ringtone)

Teresa talking out loud (Laura Fernández): “Hanna?”

Hanna (Andrea Hernaiz): “Yeap!”

Teresa talking out loud (Laura Fernández): “It’s me. You ain’t gonna believe it! They’re about to leave, right now. I’m so excited I can’t wait! I’ll pick you up tomorrow at 10 and… we’re off to buy all the stuff together! Right? Later!”

Hanna (Andrea Hernaiz): “Later!”

(Mom’s voice coming up the stairs)

Teresa’s mom (Andrea Hernaiz): “Teresa! We’re leaving honey!”

Teresa talking out loud (Laura Fernández): “Bye mum. Have a nice trip and don’t forget to call me when you get there, OK?”

Teresa’s mom (Andrea Hernaiz): “Sure darling. Behave yourself and remember: no-boyfriends-allowed!”

Teresa talking out loud (Laura Fernández): “I know, mum… Don’t worry.”

Narrator (Begoña Lombardero): The door slammed and Teresa started to jump up and down the corridor thinking out loud,

Teresa thinking (Natalia Carretero): “Oh, yes! Yes! Yes! What should I do now? What should I do now! What should I do now!

(Ringtone)

Teresa talking out loud (Laura Fernández): “Jane?”

Jane (Andrea Hernaiz): “Yeap!”

Teresa talking out loud (Laura Fernández): “It’s me. You ain’t gonna believe it! They are off!”

Jane (Andrea Hernaiz): “Great! And how many 'not-allowed-to-do' do we have?”

Teresa talking out loud (Laura Fernández): “Just one. The good old 'no-boyfriends-allowed'”.

Jane (Andrea Hernaiz): “But… You have no boyfriend yet, do you?

(Laughs and a fading 'see ya tomorrow')

Narrator (Begoña Lombardero): Teresa took a deep breath and thought,

Teresa thinking (Natalia Carretero): “OK, Teresa, just calm down and relax. The party is not until tomorrow.”

Narrator (Begoña Lombardero): She went to the kitchen to make herself a big bowl of popcorn. She sank into the couch, turned on the TV and…

(The voice of a TV announcer)

TV announcer (Begoña Lombardero): “… Police is still looking for the man who ran away from the AA Mental Hospital last night… Convicted of child abuse 10 years ago… Nobody has seen him yet…The whole neighborhood is deeply concerned…”

(The voice of the TV announcer fading away)

Teresa thinking (Natalia Carretero): “Oh, my God! It’s him! And that’s right round the corner! Oh, my God! What should I do now? What should I do now? Common’ Teresa, Think! He’s around here somewhere, I can feel it! Oh, man!”

Narrator (Begoña Lombardero): She jumped out of the couch as fast as she could and run straight away to the front door,

Teresa talking out loud (Laura Fernández): “Locked!”

Narrator (Begoña Lombardero): Then she ran to the backyard door,

Teresa talking out loud (Laura Fernández): “Locked!”

Narrator (Begoña Lombardero): She kept on running room after room shutting down all the blinds and windows. Finally, she just laid down on his parents’ bed and thought,

Teresa thinking (Natalia Carretero): “OK, Teresa, now you’re OK. Nothing bad is gonna happen to you. You’re safe and everything will be OK. Just-calm-down.”

Narrator (Begoña Lombardero): She took another deep breath (again) and tried to hold it as long as she could. Her eyelids started to bend slightly. She was about to fall asleep when funny noises from downstairs began to get louder.

(Weird noises coming from downstairs)

Teresa talking out loud (Laura Fernández): “Here he is! He is here… Oh, my god, he’s inside my house. What can I do? What can I do! What can I do! Common’ Teresa think! what can you do?”

(The phone rings)

Teresa’s mom (Andrea Hernaiz): “Teresa? Honey? It’s mum… Are you OK?”

(Door knocking)

Teresa talking out loud (Laura Fernández): “Yes mum, I’m, I’mmm OK but I can’t talk to you right now”

Teresa’s mom (Andrea Hernaiz): “Teresa! Honey! Teresa!”

(Hanging up the phone)

(A voice from outside)

Teresa’s mom (Andrea Hernaiz): “Open the door honey! Honey! Honeyyy!”

Narrator (Begoña Lombardero): When her parents could, finally, get into the house, Teresa was lying on the floor. Her mum held her into her arms until she opened her eyes and said:

Narrator (Begoña Lombardero): “Oh, mom! Thank god you’re here!” “Could you cook anything for my tomorrow’s party?”
